What We Do

Johnathan's Ministry is about giving comfort and hope to families who have suffered the loss of their babies. Although it is something we all hope we never face, if it does happen, Christ's love is our only true comfort. Our mission is to provide memory boxes to southeast Texas area hospitals. With the support and cooperation of the nursing staff and health care professionals, these items will reach families who have suffered the loss of a baby. These boxes include a tiny bag for hair clippings, a plaster kit for hand and foot prints, a teddy bear, and a handmade layette that includes a gown, cap, and receiving blanket. Nothing can really comfort a broken heart in the loss of a child, but healing can happen, and joy can be found again.....in Christ. God bless you If you are a hospital in the Brazoria County area, or neighboring areas south of Houston, and need help in your bereavement program for pregnancy or infant loss, we would love to help. You can email us, or call at the number listed below, and we will contact you as promptly as possible

About Johnathan's Ministry

On June 19,2003 Lori and Tim Purcell's precious son Johnathan Scott was stillborn; born into the arms of God. In the days and weeks that followed, Christ's love was demonstrated in many ways. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." (Matthew 5:4) At the hospital Lori and Tim received a hand painted heart shaped box, donated by community volunteers and hospital staff . It contained several items that helped preserve many special memories of Johnathan. "It was in our greatest tragedy, when we were at our most vulnerable, that we desperately needed the love of Christ in our lives." Johnathan's Ministry was created to show that love to other families who have suffered a loss. In February of 2006, Johnathan's Ministry was officially started with the overwhelming support of our church family, and with continued support of church and community we continue to deliver boxes to area hospitals including CHI St.Lukes Health Brazosport,UTMB Health Angleton/Danbury campus, and Matagorda Regional Health Center, Bay City. Our prayer is that where there is a need Christ's hand will be.
